Subscription Alert

Privacy Policy

Last updated 16 August 2026

Subscription Alert helps you keep track of recurring payments and warns you before one renews. Doing that needs a small amount of information about you. This page lists all of it, in plain terms.

What we store

Your email address. It identifies your account and it is where renewal reminders are sent. Required.

Your password, as a bcrypt hash. The password itself is never written down anywhere, and nobody — including us — can read it back out of the hash. Optional: you can sign in with a one-time email link instead and never set one.

Your name and profile picture, only if you sign in through a provider such as Google, Facebook or Apple, and only because that provider supplies them as part of signing in.

Your phone number, only if you switch on SMS reminders. Turn them off and remove the number and it is deleted from our records.

The subscriptions you enter. Service name, cost, currency, billing cycle, next renewal date, category, status, reminder lead time, and any notes you write. You type these in; we do not obtain them from your bank, your card, or anywhere else.

A record of reminders sent — which subscription, and when. This is what stops you being emailed twice about the same renewal.

What we do not do

We have no connection to your bank, card, or payment provider, and we cannot see your actual transactions or charge you anything.

We do not sell or rent your information, and we do not share it for advertising. There are no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies on this site.

Automatic scanning of your email inbox is switched off and reads nobody's mail. If it returns, it will be opt-in, will ask your permission through Google directly, and will only ever read your own mailbox.

Cookies

Two, both necessary for the site to function, neither used for tracking: a sign-in cookie that keeps you logged in, and a theme cookie remembering whether you chose light or dark. That is the entire list, which is why you are not being shown a cookie banner.

Companies that process data on our behalf

Vercel hosts the site, and its analytics counts page views. Those analytics are cookieless and aggregate — they do not identify you.

Neon hosts the database where the information above is stored.

Resend delivers account and reminder emails, so it handles your email address.

Twilio delivers text messages, and receives your phone number — only if you have switched SMS reminders on.

Google. Service logos are fetched from Google's public favicon service by your own browser as the page loads. This means Google can see the web addresses of the services being displayed to you. No account information is sent, but it is a request from your browser to Google, and you should know about it.

Links out to other companies

Reminder emails may include a link to cancel the subscription. That link passes through this site and then sends you to the provider's own website — Netflix, Spotify, and so on. Once you arrive there you are on their site, under their privacy policy, not ours. We are not told whether you cancelled.

How long we keep it

For as long as your account exists. Delete a subscription and its records, including its reminder history, are removed with it. Delete your account and everything above goes too.

Your rights

If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area, the GDPR gives you the right to see the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, obtain a copy of it, and object to how we use it. Ask us and we will do it — you do not need to give a reason.

You can also complain to your national data protection authority. In Norway that is Datatilsynet.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect or who we share it with, we will update the date at the top and, where the change is significant, tell you by email.
